Details, including syllabi, of all ECB ACO Scoring Courses (although physical venues are not yet open for booking) can be found at https://www.ecb.co.uk/be-involved/officials/find-a-course/scorers-count . Please register your interest in future news and events on our short survey at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/WHNCRNP and we will update you when more facilities become available.
We particularly recommend “Online Basic Scoring” course (middle of above page). this course is designed to provide you with all the skills needed to start scoring. The course covers the basics of scoring a game of cricket such as scoring symbols, umpire signals, dismissals and gives a helpful overview of the Laws of the game. Even if you are an expert scorer, this is a useful short refresher course.
Anyone completing this Basic Course is entitled to FREE Associate Membership of ECB ACO until 31st December 2020. Once you have completed the course, download the membership form here and return it to ecbaco@ecb.co.uk We would appreciate you completing the Direct Debit but no money will be taken before January 2021 (and we shall remind you before then). If you are 16 or over, then we shall need to do the simple DBS checks.
NB: ECB would like ALL scorers to hold a DBS Certificate as they may be alone with a child in a scorebox for several hours. Please check with your Club’s Welfare Officer.
There is also Laws of Cricket Online Learning at https://laws.lords.org/login/index.php . “create account”.There are a series of useful podcasts from Sue Drinkwater
